I can't believe it's December!!!

The month of November just flew right by!! I guess times goes by fast when you are having fun.....or are super busy!! This semester of school was pretty demanding and I am really looking forward to a little time off and the start of next semester -- less hard classes!! :) I am one of those nerds that actually likes school, even if I do complain about it a lot!!
Anyways!! This past November I made it to a lot of sales and still haven't been able to catch up with posting all my finds. I got this books for $0.25 each. My mom and I flipped through them...there are some great recipes and some interesting ones too, ones that I prolly won;t be trying ever!!
Sales at the booth were really good this past month as well. I was so happy because for a while there I was having a slow time at selling stuff, but I think with Christmas right around the corner things will start to pick up. Hope everyone is enjoying getting ready for Christmas!!

Finds Part 3

I don't know if I have ever mentioned that yellow is my favorite color. I usually will buy anything vintage that is yellow. This was the case when I found this cake carrier. I was at a thrift store and could not believe the $7.00 price tag. It is in wonderful shape, no rust and only a few tiny dents. The locks still work as well. I can't wait till I have my yellow kitchen some day, because I am sure this will look really cute sitting out somewhere!
A few days later I found the Flan plan at another thrift store for $0.99. I liked that it was almost the same color as the carrier and had the same writing on it. I also liked that it had a recipe on the back. This pan also looks like it was either never used or only once or twice. I love when you find items like that, don't you??

Finds Part 2

A few weeks ago, I attended this awesome estate sale. The lady that lived in the house was a WWII nurse and it looked like she held on to everything. The house was pretty packed and it was the second day of the sale. The lady running said she had sold a lot of stuff the first day, so I can only imagine how packed it was the day before! There was lots of stuff still in the packing. Here is just some of the things that I picked up at this sale. The toys are in mint condition and still in the boxes! They were only a dollar each!!! The serving spoon was also only a dollar. I originally bought it for the booth, but like many things that are bought for there, I am holding onto it for now.
Just a short little update for now. I went to a few estate sales today and have a lot of stuff to sort out, clean, and take pictures of!!

Some of My Finds

I finally broke out the camera to take some pictures of my recent finds for the blog. Instead of doing one long post, I am going to do it in a few...or maybe even more!

This is one of my favorite things I have found since I have started doing the whole estate sale thing. I got the Swanky Swigs at a thrift store close to my college while I was on a break in between some classes. The best part was the thrift store was having this promotion where if you had a student ID you got an additional 20% off your purchase. So....I ended up only paying $6.00 for seven glasses (even though only 6 are pictured). Then, two days later I was at an estate sale and found the carrier for only a buck!!! The whole thing cost me less than ten bucks and I am super thrilled. I looked this up on eBay, and it seems like they can go for big bucks!! I feel like I got such a deal!!

Vintage Pink Christmas Swap

It's been forever since I have posted anything. It's getting to be the end of the semester at school and that means it's term paper time! I have been working hard at school and haven't found enough time in the day to get all the things done that I want. It will be nice when things slow down in a month!!

Anyways!!! The other day in the mail I received my Vintage Pink Christmas Swap from Deb. I was sooooo excited! Deb got everything right, I loved it all.

There was a vintage apron, pattern, hankie, 3 cards, an adorable little pickle ornament, snowflake ornaments (that my mom stole ;)), tissues with stocking on them, and a cute little box with some angels on it. Deb also made me these sweet cards and awesome notebook!!!

Thank you sooo much Deb!! I can't for Christmas to come now!!

Some Recent Finds

In order to try and catch up and put away and organize all my recent finds, I thought I'd share some of my favorites that were found over the last month. I was a busy girl this October; two flea markets, many garage sales and estate sales. I was checking out craigslist last night and came across two promising estate sales for Saturday! Anyways, on to the stuff!!
I got this set of six napkins at the last flea market I went to. As I was ironing them, I decided that I would how on to them for a while until I made up my mind as to if I really want to keep them or not.
I was sooooo thrilled when I found this coat. This lady was having a really nice yard sale of mostly vintage items and had a few coats like this. I liked this one the best and it was only $20.00!! I went to my favorite dry cleaners and they did the whole coat --fur and all-- for only $8.00. So the whole thing cost me less than $30.00 which is much cheaper than buying a new winter coat!!
These are the few button cards that I have kept. The rest that I have found, which have been many lately, have gone over to the booth.

This was my splurge at the last flea market I went to. I really liked it and it was at the second booth we stopped at. I decided that if it was still there when I went to leave, it would come home with me. I talked the lady down to $20.00. She said that she thought the table was from the turn of the century but I think its a little newer than that. Any thoughts?? My mom went with me to this flea market too!! See her finds HERE.
I have been wanting a window like this for a lonnnnng time. I was sooo excited when the lady had the price of $7.50 on it. I don't know whether I am going to hang it up or make a table out of it.

These boxes of vintage ornaments haven't made their way to the booth yet. I am waiting till November 1st to put out all my Christmas stuff that I have been putting together.

I am so glad today is Friday! I had a busy week at school and next week at school is going to be just as busy, but I am going to try and get a lot of my homework done tonight so I won't be so busy this next week. And maybe I'll be able to get some of my sewing projects done!! :)

Vintage Pink Christmas Swap

I am participating in Jen's swap and she asked us to answer these questions to help our partners get to know us a little bit better.
1. What is your favorite Christmas decoration?
Since I don't have a home of my own yet, my favorite decoration that my mom puts up is our vintage fake Christmas tree. Every year, my dad and I put it together. It's the kind that each branch has to be put in on its own. My mom got it from her mother and they use to put it up when she was a little girl.

2. What colors/themes do you decorate for Christmas?
When I get my own house, I can't wait to decorate for the holidays!! I have a vintage silver feather tree from my grandma. I have been collecting little lighter green ornaments to go with it. I also have a white tree in my hope chest that I would like to either put pink or blue ornaments on.

3. What Christmas item would you love to have?
I would love to have a vintage feather tree topper. I can't seem to find any around were I live.

4. Favorite goodie & hot drink?
I love french fries. Since I am a Weight Watcher....that is a goodie to me :) I am not much of a hot drink person other than hot chocolate.

5. Are you a crafter? If so what crafts do you do?
I am a crafter. I like to do everything!! I scrapbook, sew, knit, and anything else that peeks my interest.

6. What is your favorite pink item in your home?
I have to confess that pink is not my number one favorite color--yellow is. But....my favorite pink item would be my Miss America Depression Plates!!

7. What do you collect?
Oh My!!! Where do I begin?? Here's just a few things, mind you they are all vintage: apron, linens, glass, patterns, magazines....basically anything vintage or retro!!!

8. Do you have special family traditions for the holidays?
My family does so many wonderful things during the holidays. Some of my favorites are baking with my mom and grandma, Thanksgiving Day, putting up the decorations, and going to church all together on Christmas Eve.
I hope this helps Deb!!

Hello!

You must forgive me for not updating. October is always a busy month for me. School gets crazy, my birthday, halloween, etc etc! I have also been going to sales like CRAZY!! I have so many things I want to share with you all. Hopefully I will be able to catch up in the next few weeks!! All of the items in the pictures made their way to my booth, which is filling up very quick....I don't know how I am going to fit all my Christmas stuff in there!!

I got a super deal on this coat. I had bought two vintage fur stoles off craigslist and decided to only keep one. I took the other over to my favorite little vintage resale store and they gave me almost $100 in store credit. I got a few things for me and this coat for the booth. If it doesn't sell I can add it to my collection!! :)
All the ones on the top I kept. The others are awaiting their arrival at the booth!!

Tomorrow my mom and her friend Sherry are going to the Ann Arbor, Michigan flea market. I am so excited. There is about 350 vendors in 7 building and tents on the Ann Arbor Fair Grounds.

Busy Busy

This past week I have neglected writing in my blog, but I promise it has been for a very good reason!! There have been so many sales listed on Craigslist that looked promising and I am still trying to sort all my stuff out from the flea market my mom and I went to. I have always loved vintage and old stuff, but just recently got into the whole flea market thing. I was so excited when I began to discover them popping up all over the area!! Anyways...this past one on Saturday truly was the very best I have ever been to thus far. It was the size of at least 3 or 4 football fields and that was just the antiques. There was another area for a vintage car show and for old car parts. My mom and I had a great time! She found some vintage apron patterns, which I plan to sneak away from here to make a few when I get a chance!!! I haven't even taken pictures of all the stuff I got. Some vintage magazines, a swanky swig, and vintage buttons on the cards didn't make the post. Today I managed to get to two estate sales and a thrift store, along with a flea market that we passed by that we didn't know what there. The picture above is what I received in the mail today--my vintage pattern swap from coveredbuttons on Swap-Bot. I was sooooo thrilled with the package!!! I can't wait to make one of the dresses...they were just my thing!!!

Now on to all the goods!!!

I have been on a search for a wall pocket....in my price range. This fit the bill at $3.00. It's a little darker in person.
This is my favorite find in a long while. She isn't perfect that's why I picked her up for only $3.50!!!!!!!!!!!! There is some paint missing for her hair in the back, but who's going to see that??? She was found at the flea market.
This little Dapper Do set was a surprise find at the flea market. It was in a basket of all linens and has never been used. While I don't have any babies yet, this will be added to my hope chest for just a dollar.
I bought these lamps at the flea market originally for the booth, but realized when I got home how well they match all my decor in my room. Some for a dollar each......they will stay with me!!

This is the only purchase of the day at the flea market that will make its way to the booth, even though I love the jingle bells design.
I am not normally into the smock aprons, but after I tried this on, I had to keep it. It fit like a glove!! (Sorry the picture is facing the wrong way).
Here is the rest of the flea market finds still soaking since Saturday. There is a vintage full apron, tablecloth, and tea towel all waiting to get clean!!

On to the estate sales!!

These cards and window clings were found at sale one. They will all make their way to the booth, minus a few cards for my collection!!

I also found the book at sale one. The patterns were found with the plate at a Value World we passed by on our way home. I am soo thrilled with these plates. I got four for $5.15. They are Depression--Cameo and my books valued them between $12 and $20 each!!! I am for sure keeping these as they will look good with the few Jade pieces I have!!
This chips and dip set will also make its way to the booth. It is in the original box and has never been used!!!
I have always admired fellow bloggers who find boxes like this and talk about how they had a great time sorting them out. That's really the only reason, along with the vintage spools of thread, that I picked up this box at sale two today. There ended up being 14 spools that are now in a clear glass jar. I have such fun going through it all!!

Tomorrow, I am joining my mom and grandma on a visit to my grandma's sister's for a birthday visit. Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Quick Update

This past week was super busy. Lots of homework for classes..... :( Anyways, I wanted to put the word out that Jen is hosting a swap for Vintage, Pink, and Christmas items. If any of you like that kind of stuff, I suggest you join!! This should be a lot of fun!!!

Today, my mom and I went to the American Stitches Sewing Expo. It was a lot of fun!! I bought a few things. Many stands of vintage beads did not make the post, but I can't wait to use them for something!!

I bought this pattern for this purse and cannot wait to finish my scarf so I can start this. It is felted!!!

My favorite find of the day were these vintage kimono sleeves. They are silk and the lady thought that they were from the 1930's. I have not clue what I am going to do with them, so any ideas are welcome!!!

Earlier in the week I found time to fit in a few yard sales. I got some really great stuff. All the items that made their way to the booth did not get pictures before I took them over. Oh Well!! Here are a few of my finds that I kept:

I have two of these and they have the cutest etched glass images on them. The other five went over to the booth. I only kept the glasses with the yellow rims. All of them had different colored rims with different patterns.
I also only got two of these cups. I must have a thing for cups because lately that's all I seem to be buying.
The fridge container was purchased for $1.00!!!!!! I was so excited!! Around were I live this go for big bucks and I have never wanted to pay the high prices. It is the larger size too!!! The molds are only half of what I bought. The other half of each kind went over to the booth. :)

Tomorrow, my mom and I are going to this huge flea market in Midland, Michigan which is about an hour and a half from where we live. I can't wait--the information on the website said it's one of the biggest in Michigan.

Not a whole lot going on...

Today has been spent doing some fall cleaning. I have been meaning to box up somethings for storage for a while now and have finally gotten around to it. While I was doing this, I came across my Miss America plates that I forgot to share with you all! I got them the day of the big flea market at a yard sale right across from the entrance. I decided to stop by and I am so glad that I did. The lady running the sale did not have prices on anything. Sometimes this is good, and others not so good--but in my case it was good. I knew that the plates were Miss America and I thought were only going to be worth about 15 bucks each, so when she said a dollar each I jumped at the chance. I also liked that they were pink glass, which is always worth more because they have to use real gold to get the color. From the picture you can't tell it's pink.....but it is. Anyways, the best part to this story is when I went to look them up when I got home. I have 3 different books I go by and one said they were valued at $25 each and the other said $50 each. I bought all seven and I am sure glad I did!!!

Long Time....No Post

It seems like forever since I have posting anything!! It seems like life had been very busy these past two weeks. I started a new semester of school and that is keeping me super busy. I am in all my major classes now and it's very exciting! Sales at the booth has really picked up. Many of my larger items sold, so I have had to make a few trips to the mall to restock. I also have been hitting up sooooo many sales!! I have gotten so many great deals that I can't wait to share!!!

Here is an updated picture of my booth. The mall asked that we take part in a storewide sale. I thought it would be a good way to help get some traffic to my booth. Now onto all the finds from the past two weeks (warning: there are a lot!!!)

I am trying to get together some Christmas items for the booth so I can add them in by November. These cute little candle holders were purchased at an estate sale.

I picked these flowers up today at a yard sale. They are plastic, however, with a little spray paint, I think they will look a lot better!
I have been on a search for jello molds since I regretted not picking some up at a yard sale. I got all 12 for $4.00 today on my way out of the antique mall. I was so thrilled to get the sifter for only $2.00. I hope to display it in my kitchen some day. I got two of those glasses; they match the milk bottle I got a while back. The sterling silver cake plate was a bargain at only $1.00. I have yet to clean it!
This would have to be my favorite find of the day! It was only $3.00 for the scale and original box. It is in excellent condition. This will be staying with me!
I got these mirrors earlier in the week at a yard sale a block from my house. I have yet to decided what to do with them. I might keep them or I might put them in the booth.
I couldn't pass up this apron today. It has the nicest needle work! I will be taking it to the booth on my next trip.
This is another item that was on my wish list. I was never going to pay the high prices at antique stores and even at flea markets. This I found for only $2.00 at a yard sale. I am planning on doing something to decorate the front.

This fabric and the Swanky Swigs I got all for $1.00 at the flea market. I am still thinking of something creative to do with the fabric. It is not very large....so it's been tricky to think up something.
More ornaments for the booth!!! At the bottom there are small feather tree sized ones--totally worth $1.00!!
This tray was my favorite find from last week. It is in awesome condition and will be a great add to my collection. I also couldn't beat the price---25 cents!!
I am still trying to get this pan clean. Most of them are coming clean!! I was thrilled to find out that it was from the 50's. I just bought it because it was only a buck and I liked the design!!
These are more additions to my hope chest. The canisters were only $1.00 for all. I got it on a rainy, dark day so I was a little disappointed to find them less than the best condition when I went to clean them....well only the tops are not so good. The ice trays were found at a quick stop to a yard sale on my way to school. I saw similar ones at that large flea market I went to, however, they were very pricey. These were 25 cents each!!
I have been wanting one of these for a very long time. But, being a college student and on a tight budget, they were always out of my price range. This was not the case with this one...$10.00.
Here the last of all my finds for the past two weeks. The Fire King measuring cups and the large golden pitcher stayed with me, along with the pink and white cup and the peach cup. The rest made their way to the booth today.
I thought I would share with you my future stove. This is in my grandma's basement and as long as I can remember, I have always pictured it in my kitchen someday. (My grandma so generously offered it to me, knowing my love for vintage stuff). It needs to be rewired and then it all set!! I love that it is a double oven and that it has the large pot thing in the upper left corner (it can also be removed). They don't make ovens like this today!!

That's all that's new here!! Hope you all enjoy your weekend!
