GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I closed my booth at the antiques mall. It was such a relief! So in honor of this, I am holding a giveaway. If you are the lucky winner, you will receive a Chinese Cook Book, a vintage half apron, a single salt/pepper shaker with a Bakelite top, a jello ring, an Old Colony plate, and a vintage long rectangle table cloth with two matching napkins (it's white with black and red stripes).

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post about your favorite vintage item you own and why it's your favorite. Then on August 7th, a week from Friday, I will draw a winner.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Emily

P.S. I have added a little picture on the sidebar that links to this post. Feel free to use it in a blog post and you will receive an extra entry. Just leave me a comment with a link to that post.

Flea Market Find

Well, my love for vintage linens has now crossed over to include quilts. I have been admiring many of my fellow bloggers' quilts and began to keep an eye out for one. I checked out eBay, but they seem to be super expensive on there. However, to my luck, I found one two weekends ago at the Royal Oak Flea Market and it was actually in my price range ($15).

While it does have a few flaws (some minor tears and stains, the pink blocks are faded), I am in LOVE with this quilt. I let it soak for about a day and probably should have let it soak longer, but I was so excited to wash and dry it so I could use it!!

Here's the whole quilt. There are pink blocks in between the tulips that have the tulip pattern stitched into the quilt. Its bigger than a twin size and smaller than a double bed size, but I think it could work well as a topper over another comforter.
These two tulips include some of my favorite material that is used in this quilt. I just love old feedsack!!

The economy here in Michigan has now begun to effect my booth. Sales have been down since the Christmas season and I have decided to temporarily shut down my booth at the end of April. I am thinking of doing a flea market this summer instead and listing more items in my etsy. Any thoughts or suggestions? I figured that since around here the flea market venue has become quite popular that I might do better at moving out some of my items.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!!

Some Recent Finds

In order to try and catch up and put away and organize all my recent finds, I thought I'd share some of my favorites that were found over the last month. I was a busy girl this October; two flea markets, many garage sales and estate sales. I was checking out craigslist last night and came across two promising estate sales for Saturday! Anyways, on to the stuff!!
I got this set of six napkins at the last flea market I went to. As I was ironing them, I decided that I would how on to them for a while until I made up my mind as to if I really want to keep them or not.
I was sooooo thrilled when I found this coat. This lady was having a really nice yard sale of mostly vintage items and had a few coats like this. I liked this one the best and it was only $20.00!! I went to my favorite dry cleaners and they did the whole coat --fur and all-- for only $8.00. So the whole thing cost me less than $30.00 which is much cheaper than buying a new winter coat!!
These are the few button cards that I have kept. The rest that I have found, which have been many lately, have gone over to the booth.

This was my splurge at the last flea market I went to. I really liked it and it was at the second booth we stopped at. I decided that if it was still there when I went to leave, it would come home with me. I talked the lady down to $20.00. She said that she thought the table was from the turn of the century but I think its a little newer than that. Any thoughts?? My mom went with me to this flea market too!! See her finds HERE.
I have been wanting a window like this for a lonnnnng time. I was sooo excited when the lady had the price of $7.50 on it. I don't know whether I am going to hang it up or make a table out of it.

These boxes of vintage ornaments haven't made their way to the booth yet. I am waiting till November 1st to put out all my Christmas stuff that I have been putting together.

I am so glad today is Friday! I had a busy week at school and next week at school is going to be just as busy, but I am going to try and get a lot of my homework done tonight so I won't be so busy this next week. And maybe I'll be able to get some of my sewing projects done!! :)

Hello!

You must forgive me for not updating. October is always a busy month for me. School gets crazy, my birthday, halloween, etc etc! I have also been going to sales like CRAZY!! I have so many things I want to share with you all. Hopefully I will be able to catch up in the next few weeks!! All of the items in the pictures made their way to my booth, which is filling up very quick....I don't know how I am going to fit all my Christmas stuff in there!!

I got a super deal on this coat. I had bought two vintage fur stoles off craigslist and decided to only keep one. I took the other over to my favorite little vintage resale store and they gave me almost $100 in store credit. I got a few things for me and this coat for the booth. If it doesn't sell I can add it to my collection!! :)
All the ones on the top I kept. The others are awaiting their arrival at the booth!!

Tomorrow my mom and her friend Sherry are going to the Ann Arbor, Michigan flea market. I am so excited. There is about 350 vendors in 7 building and tents on the Ann Arbor Fair Grounds.

Long Time....No Post

It seems like forever since I have posting anything!! It seems like life had been very busy these past two weeks. I started a new semester of school and that is keeping me super busy. I am in all my major classes now and it's very exciting! Sales at the booth has really picked up. Many of my larger items sold, so I have had to make a few trips to the mall to restock. I also have been hitting up sooooo many sales!! I have gotten so many great deals that I can't wait to share!!!

Here is an updated picture of my booth. The mall asked that we take part in a storewide sale. I thought it would be a good way to help get some traffic to my booth. Now onto all the finds from the past two weeks (warning: there are a lot!!!)

I am trying to get together some Christmas items for the booth so I can add them in by November. These cute little candle holders were purchased at an estate sale.

I picked these flowers up today at a yard sale. They are plastic, however, with a little spray paint, I think they will look a lot better!
I have been on a search for jello molds since I regretted not picking some up at a yard sale. I got all 12 for $4.00 today on my way out of the antique mall. I was so thrilled to get the sifter for only $2.00. I hope to display it in my kitchen some day. I got two of those glasses; they match the milk bottle I got a while back. The sterling silver cake plate was a bargain at only $1.00. I have yet to clean it!
This would have to be my favorite find of the day! It was only $3.00 for the scale and original box. It is in excellent condition. This will be staying with me!
I got these mirrors earlier in the week at a yard sale a block from my house. I have yet to decided what to do with them. I might keep them or I might put them in the booth.
I couldn't pass up this apron today. It has the nicest needle work! I will be taking it to the booth on my next trip.
This is another item that was on my wish list. I was never going to pay the high prices at antique stores and even at flea markets. This I found for only $2.00 at a yard sale. I am planning on doing something to decorate the front.

This fabric and the Swanky Swigs I got all for $1.00 at the flea market. I am still thinking of something creative to do with the fabric. It is not very large....so it's been tricky to think up something.
More ornaments for the booth!!! At the bottom there are small feather tree sized ones--totally worth $1.00!!
This tray was my favorite find from last week. It is in awesome condition and will be a great add to my collection. I also couldn't beat the price---25 cents!!
I am still trying to get this pan clean. Most of them are coming clean!! I was thrilled to find out that it was from the 50's. I just bought it because it was only a buck and I liked the design!!
These are more additions to my hope chest. The canisters were only $1.00 for all. I got it on a rainy, dark day so I was a little disappointed to find them less than the best condition when I went to clean them....well only the tops are not so good. The ice trays were found at a quick stop to a yard sale on my way to school. I saw similar ones at that large flea market I went to, however, they were very pricey. These were 25 cents each!!
I have been wanting one of these for a very long time. But, being a college student and on a tight budget, they were always out of my price range. This was not the case with this one...$10.00.
Here the last of all my finds for the past two weeks. The Fire King measuring cups and the large golden pitcher stayed with me, along with the pink and white cup and the peach cup. The rest made their way to the booth today.
I thought I would share with you my future stove. This is in my grandma's basement and as long as I can remember, I have always pictured it in my kitchen someday. (My grandma so generously offered it to me, knowing my love for vintage stuff). It needs to be rewired and then it all set!! I love that it is a double oven and that it has the large pot thing in the upper left corner (it can also be removed). They don't make ovens like this today!!

That's all that's new here!! Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

After a LONG Weekend....

I decided it was time to make some cookies I have been wanting to try out from this book:
I must say that this is a really nice book. My mom bought it recently and the other day I flipped through it. The Funfetti Cookies looked sooooo good - just had to try them.

If you'd like to try them, the recipe is really easy.

1 box of Funfetti Cake Mix; 1/3 cups of vegetable oil; 2 eggs; half of container of Funfetti frosting.

Heat oven to 375. Mix all ingredients together. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Press flat to 1/4 in thick. Bake 6-8 minutes (9 worked the best for me). Spread frosting and enjoy!

And now for an update about the flea markets that I went to on Sunday. The one I usually go to was sort of a bust and I now know why. The second one was a weekend only type of event, two days, and HUGE!!! I saw a few vendors that are usually at the Royal Oak market. I had no idea that this flea market had been going on for a few years or that is was so big. It was probably the best one I have ever been to. I also liked that they had flyer's for next year's dates and other flea markets that are scheduled for later this fall. I found so many great deals!!

This tea towel I am keeping!! I have decided not to feel guilty about keeping vintage linens and not putting them in the booth. They take up much less space than having to store anything else. This was in almost new condition, but I still soaked it in BIZ.

I was surprised to find quite a few booths that had vintage linens and aprons. They really must becoming a trend or something. Anyways, I loved this apron and thought it would be prefect for the booth. By the way...I made my first sale there!!!

Close up of the details.

I found this one at the same place as the other apron. Isn't the pattern on the material super cute??

This was my first purchase of the day. I have been longing to buy a vintage pitcher. I always look at them no matter where I go and decided that I would get this one because the price was right - $2.00.

On to the tablecloths!! I can't believe that I found so many, in good condition, and low prices!! These were all going to go to the booth, but have since made their way to my collection.

You can't beat $4.00!!! And there were no rips or stains!!

This Christmas one was $8.00 and has one small hole and it's in a spot that is hardly noticeable.
This one was also only $4.00. There were two large yellow stains but after 2 days in BIZ, they are gone!!
Close up of the pattern!

This dresser scarf will be making its way to one of the shelves in the booth.

There were a few other items, but these were the highlights of the day!! Hope everyone is have a good week so far!!

Booth Update

So, here is a picture of the booth. I fear that you might be hearing about the booth very often for the next few posts. This is all so new and exciting for me!! I would like to thank all of you who have offered some advice!! This picture is as of Friday at closing time:
It is pretty small, but I figure I need to start somewhere. I can always add in more shelves. You are allowed to pretty much do whatever you want to your booth.

Today, my mom was at a church festival visiting a friend and she saw a tent set up like a flea market. I got a call to come over to the church, as it is right in my neighborhood. Boy was I glad I did!! I found some really great stuff there, and the grand total of money spent on purchases was an even $8.00!!

This is my favorite find there. The TV stand will be staying with me!! I love the colors and the fact that it is very good condition.

The lamps were a last minute find right before I went up to the register. This is the second milk glass vase that I have found like this, so it will go to the booth. As will the lamps and the rest of the milk glass items pictured.

These ornaments were the best bargain, $1.00 for the whole box! I have yet to sort through them all. However, I know that not all of them will make their way to the booth! :)

It seems that I am having a bit of good luck lately finding metal trays for a $1.00 or less. Although I love this one, I can't keep everything, as much as I would like to....so this will be at the booth soon.

This is the only other item besides the TV tray that I am keeping for me. The outside of the train case is in very good condition, just needs a good cleaning. The inside should really be recovered. Yet another project to add to the long list!! :)

Here's the last find of the day. This popcorn popper has a great color and still works too!! It will be at the booth soon too!

The flea markets are sorta picking up here. I have two to attend to tomorrow and a church rummage sale that I am hoping will still be open. I passed it while driving today and didn't have time to stop.
