Quick Update

This past week was super busy. Lots of homework for classes..... :( Anyways, I wanted to put the word out that Jen is hosting a swap for Vintage, Pink, and Christmas items. If any of you like that kind of stuff, I suggest you join!! This should be a lot of fun!!!

Today, my mom and I went to the American Stitches Sewing Expo. It was a lot of fun!! I bought a few things. Many stands of vintage beads did not make the post, but I can't wait to use them for something!!

I bought this pattern for this purse and cannot wait to finish my scarf so I can start this. It is felted!!!

My favorite find of the day were these vintage kimono sleeves. They are silk and the lady thought that they were from the 1930's. I have not clue what I am going to do with them, so any ideas are welcome!!!

Earlier in the week I found time to fit in a few yard sales. I got some really great stuff. All the items that made their way to the booth did not get pictures before I took them over. Oh Well!! Here are a few of my finds that I kept:

I have two of these and they have the cutest etched glass images on them. The other five went over to the booth. I only kept the glasses with the yellow rims. All of them had different colored rims with different patterns.
I also only got two of these cups. I must have a thing for cups because lately that's all I seem to be buying.
The fridge container was purchased for $1.00!!!!!! I was so excited!! Around were I live this go for big bucks and I have never wanted to pay the high prices. It is the larger size too!!! The molds are only half of what I bought. The other half of each kind went over to the booth. :)

Tomorrow, my mom and I are going to this huge flea market in Midland, Michigan which is about an hour and a half from where we live. I can't wait--the information on the website said it's one of the biggest in Michigan.

Not a whole lot going on...

Today has been spent doing some fall cleaning. I have been meaning to box up somethings for storage for a while now and have finally gotten around to it. While I was doing this, I came across my Miss America plates that I forgot to share with you all! I got them the day of the big flea market at a yard sale right across from the entrance. I decided to stop by and I am so glad that I did. The lady running the sale did not have prices on anything. Sometimes this is good, and others not so good--but in my case it was good. I knew that the plates were Miss America and I thought were only going to be worth about 15 bucks each, so when she said a dollar each I jumped at the chance. I also liked that they were pink glass, which is always worth more because they have to use real gold to get the color. From the picture you can't tell it's pink.....but it is. Anyways, the best part to this story is when I went to look them up when I got home. I have 3 different books I go by and one said they were valued at $25 each and the other said $50 each. I bought all seven and I am sure glad I did!!!

Long Time....No Post

It seems like forever since I have posting anything!! It seems like life had been very busy these past two weeks. I started a new semester of school and that is keeping me super busy. I am in all my major classes now and it's very exciting! Sales at the booth has really picked up. Many of my larger items sold, so I have had to make a few trips to the mall to restock. I also have been hitting up sooooo many sales!! I have gotten so many great deals that I can't wait to share!!!

Here is an updated picture of my booth. The mall asked that we take part in a storewide sale. I thought it would be a good way to help get some traffic to my booth. Now onto all the finds from the past two weeks (warning: there are a lot!!!)

I am trying to get together some Christmas items for the booth so I can add them in by November. These cute little candle holders were purchased at an estate sale.

I picked these flowers up today at a yard sale. They are plastic, however, with a little spray paint, I think they will look a lot better!
I have been on a search for jello molds since I regretted not picking some up at a yard sale. I got all 12 for $4.00 today on my way out of the antique mall. I was so thrilled to get the sifter for only $2.00. I hope to display it in my kitchen some day. I got two of those glasses; they match the milk bottle I got a while back. The sterling silver cake plate was a bargain at only $1.00. I have yet to clean it!
This would have to be my favorite find of the day! It was only $3.00 for the scale and original box. It is in excellent condition. This will be staying with me!
I got these mirrors earlier in the week at a yard sale a block from my house. I have yet to decided what to do with them. I might keep them or I might put them in the booth.
I couldn't pass up this apron today. It has the nicest needle work! I will be taking it to the booth on my next trip.
This is another item that was on my wish list. I was never going to pay the high prices at antique stores and even at flea markets. This I found for only $2.00 at a yard sale. I am planning on doing something to decorate the front.

This fabric and the Swanky Swigs I got all for $1.00 at the flea market. I am still thinking of something creative to do with the fabric. It is not very large....so it's been tricky to think up something.
More ornaments for the booth!!! At the bottom there are small feather tree sized ones--totally worth $1.00!!
This tray was my favorite find from last week. It is in awesome condition and will be a great add to my collection. I also couldn't beat the price---25 cents!!
I am still trying to get this pan clean. Most of them are coming clean!! I was thrilled to find out that it was from the 50's. I just bought it because it was only a buck and I liked the design!!
These are more additions to my hope chest. The canisters were only $1.00 for all. I got it on a rainy, dark day so I was a little disappointed to find them less than the best condition when I went to clean them....well only the tops are not so good. The ice trays were found at a quick stop to a yard sale on my way to school. I saw similar ones at that large flea market I went to, however, they were very pricey. These were 25 cents each!!
I have been wanting one of these for a very long time. But, being a college student and on a tight budget, they were always out of my price range. This was not the case with this one...$10.00.
Here the last of all my finds for the past two weeks. The Fire King measuring cups and the large golden pitcher stayed with me, along with the pink and white cup and the peach cup. The rest made their way to the booth today.
I thought I would share with you my future stove. This is in my grandma's basement and as long as I can remember, I have always pictured it in my kitchen someday. (My grandma so generously offered it to me, knowing my love for vintage stuff). It needs to be rewired and then it all set!! I love that it is a double oven and that it has the large pot thing in the upper left corner (it can also be removed). They don't make ovens like this today!!

That's all that's new here!! Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

After a LONG Weekend....

I decided it was time to make some cookies I have been wanting to try out from this book:
I must say that this is a really nice book. My mom bought it recently and the other day I flipped through it. The Funfetti Cookies looked sooooo good - just had to try them.

If you'd like to try them, the recipe is really easy.

1 box of Funfetti Cake Mix; 1/3 cups of vegetable oil; 2 eggs; half of container of Funfetti frosting.

Heat oven to 375. Mix all ingredients together. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Press flat to 1/4 in thick. Bake 6-8 minutes (9 worked the best for me). Spread frosting and enjoy!

And now for an update about the flea markets that I went to on Sunday. The one I usually go to was sort of a bust and I now know why. The second one was a weekend only type of event, two days, and HUGE!!! I saw a few vendors that are usually at the Royal Oak market. I had no idea that this flea market had been going on for a few years or that is was so big. It was probably the best one I have ever been to. I also liked that they had flyer's for next year's dates and other flea markets that are scheduled for later this fall. I found so many great deals!!

This tea towel I am keeping!! I have decided not to feel guilty about keeping vintage linens and not putting them in the booth. They take up much less space than having to store anything else. This was in almost new condition, but I still soaked it in BIZ.

I was surprised to find quite a few booths that had vintage linens and aprons. They really must becoming a trend or something. Anyways, I loved this apron and thought it would be prefect for the booth. By the way...I made my first sale there!!!

Close up of the details.

I found this one at the same place as the other apron. Isn't the pattern on the material super cute??

This was my first purchase of the day. I have been longing to buy a vintage pitcher. I always look at them no matter where I go and decided that I would get this one because the price was right - $2.00.

On to the tablecloths!! I can't believe that I found so many, in good condition, and low prices!! These were all going to go to the booth, but have since made their way to my collection.

You can't beat $4.00!!! And there were no rips or stains!!

This Christmas one was $8.00 and has one small hole and it's in a spot that is hardly noticeable.
This one was also only $4.00. There were two large yellow stains but after 2 days in BIZ, they are gone!!
Close up of the pattern!

This dresser scarf will be making its way to one of the shelves in the booth.

There were a few other items, but these were the highlights of the day!! Hope everyone is have a good week so far!!

Booth Update

So, here is a picture of the booth. I fear that you might be hearing about the booth very often for the next few posts. This is all so new and exciting for me!! I would like to thank all of you who have offered some advice!! This picture is as of Friday at closing time:
It is pretty small, but I figure I need to start somewhere. I can always add in more shelves. You are allowed to pretty much do whatever you want to your booth.

Today, my mom was at a church festival visiting a friend and she saw a tent set up like a flea market. I got a call to come over to the church, as it is right in my neighborhood. Boy was I glad I did!! I found some really great stuff there, and the grand total of money spent on purchases was an even $8.00!!

This is my favorite find there. The TV stand will be staying with me!! I love the colors and the fact that it is very good condition.

The lamps were a last minute find right before I went up to the register. This is the second milk glass vase that I have found like this, so it will go to the booth. As will the lamps and the rest of the milk glass items pictured.

These ornaments were the best bargain, $1.00 for the whole box! I have yet to sort through them all. However, I know that not all of them will make their way to the booth! :)

It seems that I am having a bit of good luck lately finding metal trays for a $1.00 or less. Although I love this one, I can't keep everything, as much as I would like to....so this will be at the booth soon.

This is the only other item besides the TV tray that I am keeping for me. The outside of the train case is in very good condition, just needs a good cleaning. The inside should really be recovered. Yet another project to add to the long list!! :)

Here's the last find of the day. This popcorn popper has a great color and still works too!! It will be at the booth soon too!

The flea markets are sorta picking up here. I have two to attend to tomorrow and a church rummage sale that I am hoping will still be open. I passed it while driving today and didn't have time to stop.

Sales, Sales, Sales!!!

With making the decision to open the booth, I have been attending more sales lately. Even though my space is very small (pictures to come in the next post), I still have A LOT of empty space that I should fill. I feel like the more I have in there, the better my chances are of someone stopping to actually look in my small space! :) Today I attended an estate sale that I found on Craigslist. I was surprised when I got there that it was a real estate sale. I have found that many times, sales are miss-listed. Anyways....here are all the goodies I have gotten over the past week or so. (I got some aprons for a quarter each and forgot to take pictures before they went to the booth).
The blue and gold flowered vase I got at a garage sale for $1.00 along with the glasses, they were $3.00 for a set of four. The milk glass candle stick holder I got for free at a garage sale!! Under that are some saucers that I got for 50 cents each. I found the lamp today at the estate sale. It was my second most expensive item at $2.00 and it does work!! I doubt that any of these items will make it to the booth...I think I like them all too much!! :)

I was excited that the estate sale had a whole bunch of hard cover books for only 50 cents each. I looked through all of them and only came up with this English book. It will be going to the booth. So will the curler bag that is still in its original packaging, which was the cheapest thing I got at the estate sale, 25 cents. The ornaments I found there as well, however, I am going to go through my collection, so they may or may not male their way to the booth.

I loved this rack with I saw it from the curb at a yard sale. I got for my booth, but then realized since my space is so small it would take up a lot of valuable room. I really liked that it folds up. It might be used at some future craft shows. The wash board was purchased at the same sale for $1.00. The wash bucket I got at a different sale for $2.00. I am thinking of using them as a display in the booth.

This I got also for free at the same sale that I got the milk glass candle holder. I still debating if I should keep it or not.

This sweater was my splurge at the estate sale: $5.00. Here it is drying.

The picnic basket was also another free item. I got it at the sale with the rack. I bent down to look at it and the lady said that she was about to put it at the curb when I started to look at it, so if I wanted it, it was free!!!! The thermos was a dollar and I can't wait to use it for cold nights watching Adam coach football!! The mini pans were a steal at 75 cents for all four. I can't wait to make some mini loaves of zucchini bread! I got the basket at the estate sale for 25 cents. I am going to use it in the booth for displaying Christmas ornaments. The purses I also got at the estate sale for a dollar each. They will head off to the booth.

This has to be my favorite find all week. It was found at the estate sale for $1.00. There is some small amounts of rust and sealer that has worn away, but it is in overall good condition. I have been looking for one of these for the longest time and I finally found one in my price range!!!

Tomorrow I am hoping to get over to the booth to add more items and some decorations and take some pictures for the blog! Hope everyone enjoys their Friday!!
