Tis the Season for Camping! "Vintage Trailer Style" Review and Giveaway

When I was a kid, my family had a Coachman travel trailer (completely with bunk beds for my brother and I) and we did a lot of camping!  Growing up in Michigan meant that most summers were spent either up north, in Canada, or somewhere else in the Midwest -- there are so many great options and I was fortunate enough to be able to visit so many places throughout my childhood.

It's always been a dream of mine to buy a vintage RV and restore it.  I love taking road trips and camping, so I am sure it would get a lot of use.  Plus, I would love to share and create memories with my own family, just my parents did for me.

Seriously, how cute is this corner kitchen sink in this vintage trailer?

I think the other thing that fostered my love for vintage RVs is Lucille Ball's The Long, Long Trailer, a movie I watched constantly as a young girl (and even still do!).  If by some chance you haven't seen this film, I HIGHLY recommend it.  It's crazy funny, the fashion and scenery is pretty spectacular, and it holds some serious vintage trailer eye candy.

Seeing how much I love vintage trailers, I was extremely delighted when I was contacted to review Vintage Trailer Style by Lisa Mora.  My book came yesterday and boy was I excited to crack it open!

Mora covers everything you need to know to get started with your first vintage trailer: from buying tips and how to find your dream trailer to ideas on how to decorate and where to explore -- Vintage Trailer Style has got you covered!  I especially like how each section has a printed tab on the page, making it easy to spot your desired section just by flipping through the book.

Even if you aren't interested in buying a trailer of our own, this book is still of interest to anyone who loves vintage.  Mora has packed the book full of beautiful photos showcasing all kinds of trailers and it was great to see all the different ways people have decorated their RVS.

I wanted to answer a few questions that have been asked in my last few posts.

"Are you on twitter?"

No, and this isn't necessarily related, but I have been thinking about starting a facebook page for the blog. Would you guys like that?

"Where can I get one [of those shoe things]?"

I found mine at an estate sale and I have seen them before at estate sales. I just never thought I would want one. Honestly, it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I tend to like to keep my heels and dresser shoes in the boxes they came in to prevent dust and the like. This isn't possible when buying vintage shoes because most of the time they do not come with their boxes. This storage container is great, it keeps out the dust while still allowing me to see what's inside.

I was only able to find one online to buy. But, like I said, at least here in Michigan, I have come across them a few times. One tip on finding them at sales is to look in the attic and basement, that's where I found mine, in the basement.

"What are those shoes in the bottom right corner?"

They are 40s tapestry heels with an Egyptian print. I will share pictures when I do my post about my vintage shoe collection.

New 'Do

As I mentioned in my last post, two weekends ago I got a haircut and decided to get bangs this time. I am really loving the shorter hair and am even considering going a bit shorter before winter comes.

I was super excited when this dress fit me -- it came off the center rack, featuring hand picked vintage styles, which normally doesn't have plus sizes. It's kinda hard to tell in the photo (I got a little too carried away with fancying it up), but the dress is in the most lovely shades of pastel blue, pink, and lavender, with just a hint of navy accent.

On a completely other note, several weeks ago I mentioned a 125 followers giveaway and never got around to it. I am in the process of putting all the lovely prizes together, so look for this soon!!!
