Wannabe Vintage

Even though I am a vintage gal at heart and try my hardest to "dress the part," some days, I just feel like changing it up and wearing something that isn't exactly vintage. In the past I have written about some of a woes of being a vintage loving girl in a modern world. Whether its the weather or the fast pace of our modern world, it can be hard to make the effort to put together that vintage look every day. And beyond that, I find myself still wanting to dress "with the times," with my own vintage perspective. So, somedays, I dress like this. The only thing in my outfit that is vintage is my skirt, which is late 70s. I fell in love with it a few months ago while on a thrifting trip and really love the look I finally came up with for it.

I am also really smitten with my "new" yellow flats. I've been looking for a pair for a while now. And, while they are not exactly vintage either, (they are Liz Claibornes from probably the late 80s-early 90s, I'm thinking more 90s), they really want to be! When I saw them at the thrift, they just screamed 60s mod to me. I've been getting a ton of wear out of them since; totally worth the $4.00.

I think it's a very cute outfit! It's best to just feel comfortable and happy, no matter what elements you're throwing into your outfit. Sometimes you don't always want the same old thing. Just because the same old thing is vintage doesn't mean you don't tire of it/need a change or something easier sometimes. :)

I LOVE yellow shoes, those definitely look like they could be from the 60s. Great find!

In the summer I wear more secondhand/thrifted outfits rather than vintage due to the humidity and wanting to wear pieces that are shorter and cotton. Supposedly the '90s are vintage now so you can say your shoes are vintage! Either way I love the cheery print of your skirt and the bright color of your shoes, I really want a pair of sunshine yellow pumps.

Hey guess what? The 90's are technically vintage now! (at least 20 years old!) So you're good :)
But I agree with you - there's a real art to integrating vintage into the modern world, and I think you're doing it well!

Love the yellow shoes and the cute printed skirt. A lot of my favorite items are actually from the 70s. They're so wearable! I definitely see the mod vibe coming from your flats--maybe try them with black tights when the weather gets cooler?
