I agree...there are som...I LOVE this feature idea. I agree...there are some real little gems in those vintage magazines. As for "nasty jello" recipes, I have to tell you, when I was a girl, my grandmother made both savoury and dessert type jello dishes for EVERY family occasion. I'm not kidding. One sticks out in particular: it involved green jello and the shaved veggies you normally put into a coleslaw (you know carrots, cabbage, and the like) set into a bundt cake form to give it a fun shape! The other I remember: canned fruit salad (we'd fight over the cherries) set into cherry jello. <br /><br />The earlier set dish that both intrigues and grosses me out is ASPIC. Since I first saw the movie Dinner at Eight, in which a lion shaped aspic is made for a guest, I have been very curious to know how jello-d meat stock would taste.
