Moving Sale

This week, it's moving crunch time.  There will be lots of packing, moving, and an estate sale too.

While all that's going on behind the computer screen, I'm having a virtual "estate sale" of sorts in the shop.  From now until the 22nd, take 25% off of the whole shop -- including the sale and clearance section!

Calling all Vintage Bloggers!

I am looking for a few fabulous vintage bloggers to help me get through my up coming move.  At the end of this month, I will be embarking on a new journey and would love to fill this space with lots of great content while I pack, move, and set up my new place.

If you are interested, please email me with your post idea.  Guest post are open to any topic you'd like, but since this is a vintage blog, my only request is that it is vintage related.  I am looking for 5-8 guest posts which will go live here the week of June 23rd.  Guest post copy and images must be submitted by June 19th.

Thanks in advance!  Can't wait to share this new adventure with you!

Thoughts on The Grass is Greener (1960)

One of the things I was looking forward to most this year was getting back into the swing of watching old movies again. Classic film is probably one of my earliest if not the earliest passion in my life, but with so much quality television shows on the air right now (Mad Men, Game of Thrones, The Americans, etc) it has been really hard to fit movies into all of that.  What can I say, I am always going to be a Cinema Studies student at heart.  :)

So in January, I accepted the challenge to watch 10 classic I haven't seen before.  So far, I have watched three of the ten films and I can't wait to get through the list.  It has definitely reignited my love for classic film!

Having little expectations for it, I started with The Grass is Greener (Cary Grant was really the only draw for me).  The premise sounded pretty funny and I was immediately even more interested after seeing Christian Dior's name on the credits for supplying Jean Simmon's wardrobe.

It was a delight to see many of Dior's early 60s designs modeled on the beautiful Simmons and really made the film worth watching, if only for the amazing fashion.  However, I think the best part of the film is during the above scene, when a split screen Grant and Mitchum are both on the phone.  Grant has such great comedic timing and this scene certainly highlights that.

LV Rating: ***
See it for the clothes and Cary Grant is always dreamy!

Wrap Dress Glamour

| Fleur Wrap Dress | Sugar Flats | 80s does 60s Cat-eye Sunglasses |

This past Saturday marked the beginning of flea market season here in the Mitten -- truly one of my favorite times of year!  I don't normally take the 2 hour trek to Midland in June (I like that their September show is right after the DIY, so I have some extra spending money), but it was just so beautiful out!  And after one of the worst Michigan winters on record, I've been taking any chance I get to enjoy this pleasant weather we've been having.

It's been great to be able to wear all my summertime dresses.  I just got this Fleur Wrap Dress and I was itching to wear it out to see how it compares to my original Swirl dresses.  I am happy to report that it was just a easy to wear as my Swirls and I could hardly tell the difference.  My only complaint is that the pockets on this dress are too high up and not nearly enough wide, making it hard to use them.  However, I love having a black wrap dress in my rotation now, since it is my go to color lately.

I didn't score much this trip for myself, but the shop has some real beauties coming soon.  The one small purchase I did made for myself was this 1957 Fredericks of Hollywood catalog.  My vintage catalog collection has been long over due for a Fredericks catalog.  Now I'm hooked!
